Days out from Antibes

Monaco: Monaco is a small, glamorous principality. Just 1 hour on the train and you come to this unique place. With its own principality, famous royal casino, and host to one of the most exciting grand prix, it is certainly worth taking time to walk round this picturesque city, located on the Cote D’Azur. The aquarium and Oceanographic museum is well worth a visit.

Villefranche–sur-Mer: If you are seeking tranquillity, try this picturesque fishing village east of Nice. It boasts a chapel decorated by Cocteau and some of the most splendid properties on the Cote d’Azur where the world’s millionaires hide themselves away. The port is a base for both fishermen and tourists with a variety of sea trips to choose from during the summer months. The village itself is picturesque with narrow streets and ancient houses with colourful facades.

St Tropez: An hour in the direction of Marseille, St Tropez is world renowned for its beaches, weather and shops and a popular destination for the rich and celebrities. So if you have the time, spend a day here to work on your own famous St Tropez tan.

Italy: As mentioned there is a well known market at Vintimille, but if you change trains at this station and head 2 stops along for San Remo, you will arrive at another market town, another popular destination for locals and holiday makers who enjoy the cheap variety of items for sale, whilst also enjoying some Italian culture and yet your only 10 minutes from the French / Italian border.

Valberg: This is a popular family ski resort, just 90 minutes drive from Antibes, here you can enjoy the speed of the slopes and the crisp mountain air, then pop back to Antibes for dinner, perhaps followed by breakfast on the beach the next day!

Vence: This is a beautiful little medieval walled village, perfect for a leisurely lunch and an afternoon stroll and a spot of souvenir shopping.  We have enjoyed a meal at Les Agapes, 4 Place Clemenceau, 06140 Vence Tel: 04 93 58 50 64 www.les-agapes.net

Lac Ste Cassien: This is one of our favourite days out.  Half an hour by car from Antibes, this lovely lake is so tranquil and undeveloped it is a perfect place to relax and unwind.  A perfect place to take a picnic, have a swim, hire a pedalo or enjoy a meal at one of the few restaurants overlooking the beautiful lake.
